When I push the headphone jack all the way into the unit the sound distorts and the volume is low.
When I don't fully insert the headphone jack it works fine...(last 1mm)
Anyone else having this problem or have any ideas how to fix without replacing the unit?

It may be a defective set of headphones try another set. If the headphones are defective assuming there apple, they would be covered by warranty. If its the actual headphone jack, bring it in to an apple store for a replacement.
netmaniv - this is happening to me too. Any update? Should I return my phone to the Store or call Apple?
I had the same problem.
I now have the solution. push it in all the way. don't be shy. its abit tough, so that may cause you to think it can't go in anymore. but give it a good push, and it should be ok.

i got 1more problem.wen i talking wit others by using aftermarket headphone i control the sound using volume key.tat show headphone volume.after i unplugged the headphone n press the volume key also the headphone volume control showing.normaly wen press the volume key tats will shw ringer or volume right.i do no hw 2 solve tiz problem.help me 2solve tiz problem.....😠
