Macs shutting down instead of going to sleep
We are beginning to explore an issue where various Macs shut down instead of going to sleep, either when manually put to sleep by the user, or when automatically set to sleep via the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences.
In some cases, the issue can be resolved by deleting the following property list (.plist) files:
* /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist
* /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.AutoWake.plist
* ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
After deleting these files, restart and check for persistence of the issue.
Another workaround involves resetting the afflicted Mac's PMU (power management unit) can sometimes resolve this issue.
My Macbook just randomly turns off sometimes without
me doing anything. Then I'll try and boot it back up
and it takes me pressing the button about 3 times for
it to finally actually boot up. I have it connected
to my power supply the whole time, so I'm positive
that it's not a power issue. Any advice?
