My macpro take about 15 seconds to go to sleep after I hit the sleep button under the apple logo in the upper left hand side of the screen. I just purchased a brand new iMac and transferred all files to it and it is doing the same thing. Is it possible that if something is wrong I just transferred it to my new iMac? Does anyone have a solution or possibly know what the probelm is?

There is no other user account I have the only account. I did the transfer using an external hard drive and the time machine backup.

Enable the guest account. Test it in the guest account.
3) Boot into Safe Mode (hold down shift at start up). Log into your normal account. Test.
the guest account doesnt let me do anythiing except surf safari and when i quit safari it shuts down. However when I boot in safe mode it does go to sleep right away.
If the Chrome web browser is installed and running, quit it and see whether there's an improvement.
Ok that seems to working now. Im going to give a try tomorrow too and see if that solves the problem. Do you know why Chrome would be doing that?
Because Google is in the habit of foisting non-standard, buggy applications on the public.
