When I try to burn a music CD, it insists I am burning a data DVD

When I select a playlist and tell it to burn the playlist the disc as an Audio CD, I get the following message:

"You have inserted a blank DVD but originally selected a CD format. Are you sure you wish to create a data DVD instead?"

Since I asked it to create an audio CD and NOT a data DVD, I have no idea what to do. I simply want to play these files from the CD player.

Any ideas? Is it possible the format of the files (MP3) is to blame?

Note I have never figured out how to create a CD that will play in my normal, several-generations-old CD player.

Addendum: Tried convering all the songs to .aiff and burned another. Same message, won't play.

The message is crystal clear.

YOU CANNOT (not no way, not no how) create a MUSIC CD with a DVD. It's a completely DIFFERENT disc format.

If you want to burn a Music CD, you MUST USE a blank CD to do it.

Y'know, that's makin' some kinda crazy sense.

I thought there were CDs. They are, as you have surmised, not.

I think this will fix the issue and so am closing it. Thanks for the eagle eye. :-)
