How do I connect my iMac ( 7,1) to my Dell Display through HDMI?

I've an Mid 2007 iMac ( 7,1 ) running OS 10.8.5....

The display is becoming an problem as in I need to attach one more display so I bought this Dell Display ( S2240L ) which connects through HDMI only.

So I was wondering how can I connect my iMac to the Dell display as it's quite confusing for me as the old iMac which I have uses some different cable than what the current generation iMac uses! And when I had gone to the Apple store in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India...( Reseller )

Instead of helping me out they told me how old my iMac is and I should get a new one ( very rude of them .

So if anyone can help me by giving me links or to tell me which display port to buy! It would be highly appreciated!

Please please help!

I know my iMac is quite old but I simply can't afford to buy a new one currently.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD

Problem is that your 2007 has an older Mini-DVI output port and Apple never made or supported Mini-DVI to HDMI.

So on that note: I can only suggest some alternate solutions that may or may not work for you.

1. Trying some after market > Mini DVI to HDMI adapters - Google Search

2. Exchanging that HDMI only Dell and get a Monitor that also supports DVI, then use the Apple standard Apple Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.) and a good DVI cable.

Well @den.thed the sad part is that here in India they don't take products back even if you've bought them a couple of hours back! :( so that can't be done...

But I found something and I would be very happy if you could let me know if it's the right one :

http://www.junglee.com/PTC-Mini-DVI-Adapter-6ft-Macintosh/dp/B001H0REVK/ref=sr_1 _8/279-8132733-0283260?ie=UTF8&qid=1381723061&sr=8-8&keywords=mini+dvi+to+hdmi

Since they won't take this back after the purchase so it has to be the right one or else all my money will go to waste!

Awaiting help.
