Q: Airport Extreme to Airport Extreme

Hi, I have an Airport Extreme as the base for my home internet. I run an Aiport Express to extend the network on the ground floor as well as Apple TV. I'm looking to add another Airport Extreme on hte otherside of the house to enable me to run a stronger internet over there as well as extending the hardwires to other Apple TV boxes. I was told the that if I run CAT5 cable from the eithernet port from the "Base" station Airport Extreme to the Gigabit input of the new Airport Extreme on the other side of the house and gave it the same name that it would work (this was from an Apple Rep at Best Buy). Well, It doesn't seem to work. Any ideas??????? All the equipment is brand new and is of the same generation.

You have the AE in the wrong mode.. at a guess.

It should be in bridge. You should create a wireless network.. and that network has exactly the same name and security setup as the main router AE.

If you keep having issues.. first thing to do is plug a computer into the end of the cat5 and see if it gets an IP and works.
