3-5 second delay for sound to start using iTunes with Bluetooth wireless speakers.

I use iTunes on my Windows7 laptop through Bluetooth wireless powered speakers to DJ dances and have no problem when I start a playlist and just let it play. This weekend I needed to play songs one at a time. Each time I started a song there would be a 3-5 second delay before sound would start. I noticed this happening previously when starting a playlist missing a few seconds on the first song of the list. This only happens when using Bluetooth wireless speakers, not when connected directly to a sound system. Suggestions?
