sync contacts with gmail

i have exisitng nos on my iphone and need to sync the contacts to my gmail.. however the exisiting contacts dont seem to sync to my gmail?

also i see multiple entries under whatsapp with every contact having 2 entries since i have kept the sync open..

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.2

Are the contacts actually on the device or synced to another cloud service?

If they are synced to another cloud service, it is not possible to sync them to gmail from the iPhone.
