Ipad 4 GPS issues

Hi

I suddenly have issues with the GPS on my ipad 4th gen - 64 GB - with wifi and GSM ability ( so I know it has GPS )

I use it side by side with my iPhone 4 , both are on IOS 7 and the GPS signal reports a several hundred meters tup to 1-2km precision on the ipad, whereas on the iphone 4 the precision at the time is around 5-10m . I can see the same behavior in APPLE MAPS and in NAVIGON so I think it's system / GPS rather than in the software using the GPS . (APPLE MAPS just show a circle of a huge diameter, NAVIGON allows to display the GPS precision via its GPS MENU )

The problems appeared a few days after I went to ios7 - but NOT immediately after the install. More like a week or so later. I used the GPS to travel to a location in the morning, when getting back into the car and trying to find my way to the next location the GPS reported " no GPS signal" .

So far I have tried

- resetting the ipad - home and sleep button held till complete shutdown

- resetting network settings

- resetting location service settings

In various orders, I also toggled wifi , cellular data and flight mode on and off.

Last resort would be to go back to factory delivery status and rebuild it from a backup... :-(

Btw anyone knows of an app that shows GPS output directly ?

GPS was broken, IPad got replaced in the Apple store. It was NO software issue, it persisted through factory resets and all.
