Help. I am not getting the icon allowing me to transfer my iphone and ipad screen to my TV via apple tv? Any ideas please?

iphone4s and newer

ipad 2 and newer

are required and iOS 5 or newer is required

it does not work across the Internet so the ios devices have to be connected to the lan network along with the appletv and computer

Thanks for the reply. I have an iphone 5 and an ipad 2. But I still cannot get the icon on the screens.
