Q: button. I read to go to settings - general to add the button but I can't find it. I need it bad! Can anyone help?

Obvious question but does this iPad have a SIM card tray? If not it's Wi-Fi only.

Make sure you got a Wi-Fi+Cellular iPad

Further to what Diavonex has said your Model number - just in case you don't know where to look can be found not in Settings, although there is one in there but on the back of the iPad at the bottom, look for a number that starts with A
