Direct upload from Photos app to Facebook & iOS Photos Album

When I use the Photos app to upload photos to Facebook, it places all of the pictures in an album called iOSPhotos. There is no option to post them just to my normal Facebook Timeline. In other words, I'm forced to select an Album.

This is a problem because I get a huge mishmash of photos from different dates, times etc in this album called iOS Photos. Instead of commenting on an individual upload, people end up commenting on the whole iOSPhotos album. So you get a huge odd conversation appearing over time as more photos end up in there.

Apple, could you please allow us to upload a photo to the timeline, without forcing it into a specific album? Or to allow us to create a new Album on the fly?

Woah! Agressive reply. 😟

It has plenty to do with Apple in that it is a core part of iOS7 software; nothing to do with the Facebook App.

Now, it may not be Apple's fault, in that it could just be an issue with the Facebook API that they have to make use of.... but still there are quite a few comments about this already in these support forums and it is a poor implementation of what could be a very useful feature.

Once again, very aggressive and defensive response. Neither addresses the question nor aids in finding a workaround.

The Facebook api is open to all, and allows any album or the timeline to be specified. Many other apps and platforms manage that. So the Facebook end of this is available and ready to use.

It is an Apple choice to load to 1 specific album only, instead of offering the user a choice of album, or indeed the timeline. So the only part of this Facebook/Apple interface that needs a change to address this request is the Apple end.

My Android kit does this nicely enough, as does my Macbook Pro , its just my IOS devices that struggle.

It is Apple's absolute right to leave this as it is, presumably to nudge users further into the iCloud ecosystem, but it is a legitimate request and entirely within Apple's control to resolve.

Although this is NOT Apple's "problem" the solution is in a correct "synch" as controlled in FACEBOOK of photos taken by an iOS device. The menu to control Photos synching is not always clearly visible or even findable on a small screen. Here is our story: My wife reported the issue of all her iOS (iPhone photos) showing up also in her Facebook albums. She deleted them and then the next day they were back. It took the following discovery to fix it: Follow the above FAQ, that is use the dot dot dot more at the lower right of the screen, select "Photos" and then notice that the menu at the top of the screen is partially concealed. You have to scroll or drag the menu to expose the very right hand menu choice for "Synched" and select it and then disable the synching. Yes, this is activated, at least in my wife's case, by default, not by her intention. Yes, the menu is effectively concealed. Why? You have got me on this part, perhaps a curiosity, perhaps an invasion of privacy, perhaps neglect, perhaps the programmer was using a large screen device where the menus all display. However, on an iPhone5 the Facebook/Photos/Synched menu is concealed and might be activated without a user knowing (our case) and the process can be so intensive that other things in Facebook do not display promptly (our case). Hint to the Facebook Programmers, design first for the smallest screen and build upward. Use menu terms which can be truncated and still understood. For the rest of the world, beware, using Facebook may open private matters to a wide audience. You as the device operator are responsible even when you do not understand what is going on. Like: Your niece has a baby and you visit and take a picture of her nursing the newborn to pass on to your great gramma ... you used your iPhone 5 which autoposted the photo to Facebook and you get the phone call from your niece's mother who is happy as ... you would be with your hand in a beehive.

I think the Facebook app for iPhone is a Facebook app, not an Apple app. And there IS a way to designate which album to upload a photo to, contrary to your comment. However, it only allows you to upload to an existing album, not to create a new one. If you don't designate a specific album, it automatically goes into your mobile photos album (for iPhone users it's called "iOS album"). Facebook should add "Timeline Photos" and "Create an Album" as options in the dropdown menu for Album designation on their mobile app for iPhone. These options are available on the desktop version of Facebook.

For the record, I don't think Razmee was aggressive in the least; just terse.
