I am buying an AirPrint printer. The printer has to be located in a part of the office that is out of wifi range, but it will be connected to the Mac (OSX10.8.5) by USB cable. Can I use AirPrint facility from an iPad that is in wifi range?

Yes, the Mac is connected to the home wifi network - and the ipad will also be in range. The only potential problem is that the printer is just out of range, even though it is connected to the Mac.
