Did an option key start after the question mark file came up on start-up. After three hour internet recovery I have the Mac OS X Utilities up with four choices, Time Machine Backup (tried this, nothing there), Reinstall Mac OS X, Get Help Online and Disk Utility. What do I do now? I'm not Mac savy. Any help appreciated.

Tkx Aqua, repair is not an option and verify disk does not show the Recovery HD as per instructions.
Ouch, it does appear that the Hard Drive has failed. 😟
I'm not exactly sure which MBA you have, but...
MBA is a 6/12 came with Leopard. Really didnt have anything important on the Air and we do have a newer Pro so I think I will do the HD swap unless I can wipe the existing HD and boot from the Pro some way.? Tkx

First I'd try Disk Utility to Repair the Boot partition, then Repair Permissions, then Re-install OSX. 🙂
It would sem the hard drive has big problelms, but does any other Partitition show?
I don't know much about booting the MBAs from another drive.
