How DeActivate iTunes??

After transferring over 1200 aifc or aiff files (music) that were all QuickTime files to this computer 10.6.8 from one running 10.4.11

on opening a folder with 800 of them in it, ITunes [which was NOT open] (or some other aspect) changed ALL the icons on the list from QT to iT... meaning every time one is selected instead of opening in QT it will open in iTunes - which I dislike with a passion... for my purposes QuickTime is much much much more preferred...

Is it possible to totally delete or neutralize iTunes so I can then reload all the songs again... IF So, will that eliminate the conversion?

Of course I can drag each music file to QT and it will run in QT but every every every time... that is a REAL BUMMER when before it was just a click..

Help!!

Assuming it's possible to deactivate or remove iTunes -how would a future user reinstall it? Complete system install or ?

Okay... it DOES open in QT even thou the iTunes icon shows up.

and as I move down the list of over 1000 songs the icons keep switching black for iTunes

for most of them...some do not..

confusing as almost all the icons STAY black iTunes instead of QT..

messy looking

any way to get them to stay QT like they were in the previous system 10.4.11?

I clicked on 'change all'.
