I've received an email supposedly from apple asking me to confirm my account information. It looks like a phishing email because it just says 'Dear Customer' instead of using my name and I know most companies always use your name so you can identify fraudulent emails. Is this the case with apple? I've been unable to find an answer and tried contacting Apple but it seems to be difficult.

This email is a phishing email. Clicking on the link will take you to a site trying to get your information.
My wife received this email today. Fortunately Safari Warner her that the website was on a list of suspected phishing sites.
Delete the email.
I agree with Ralph but I would take it a step further. Send an email to reportphishing@apple.com.
You will receive an automated email notifying you that they received your email and will contact you in the vent that they feel the need to do so.
These phishing emails seem to be going around with a bit more frequency over the last few months. Report it to Apple, delete it and move on.
Thanks, I've sent it to apple and then deleted it. I'm still wondering if not using my name is a way of recognising spam emails. Other companies eg: paypal always say they'll use your full name in any emails so you know it's legit. I haven't been able to find out Apple's policy on this.
I have a folder with saved emails from Apple that consists of iTunes receipts, product registration confirmations, and so on and almost every one of them does mention my name.
I really do believe that you were being phished.
Will Apple will always use my name in emails?
