airplay to my apple tv works for everything except for video from the Photos app

So airplay to my apple tv works for everything except for video from my Photos app. The sound comes through but no video, images are perfect, and the youtube app is good for video. Any ideas? Using i0s7 iphone 5s, apple TV is up to date. When I try to mirror the screen is black, or just try to do normal airplay.
