iPhone Configuration Utility for Windows (v3.6.2.300) - won't remove profile from device

Hoping someone out there can help me - I'm trying to remove a profile from a phone that was deployed about a year ago. I'm using the same machine that I used to deploy the profile, the only change I can determine is that, at the time the phone was deployed, I was running version 3.4.

I've tried removing the latest release and reinstalling 3.4... But the older version does not start up. This makes sense, but is frustrating.

The other way I could solve my problem is if I could set a toggle that would show the removal password (within the configuration utility), but have not figured out how to do so.
