New Message Badge Count Stuck At 1

Hi,

I am using IOS 7.0.2 on iPhone 5. A few days ago my WhatsApp and other app/apps (I have notice it in Ruzzle but there may be few other app as well) started behaving awkwardly. Even if I have more than one new/unread message, the badge count does not exceed more than 1. When I read the message, there will be no badge count on top right corner. But even if I have 15 new WhatsApp messages, the new message badge count will not exceed one - "1". This problem started a few days ago and has been bugging me ever since.

I have already tried the following:

1) Restart the phone.

2) Go to Settings > Notification Center > WhatsApp (Other Apps) > Badge App Icon On/Off.

Even more confusing is the fact this issue is not affecting all the apps - badge count in iMessage's & Mail's are in line with actual new/unread messages and will show more than 1 badge count. The setting in my WhatsApp and iMessages are exactly same.

I would appreciate any help on this issue.

Hi,

I tried almost everything to find a solution to this but does not work, whatsapp needs to figure it out quicky and upgade the version for the ios 7.

A few steps which I performed:

Turn notifications from the app on/off.

Turned notifications on/off from the notification center.

Installed the app again

restored my fone

Toggle on/off show in lock screen.

If any one figures it out pls keep posting in this thread, which will help others.

I got the same problem almost in all apps, iMassage, Whatsapp & BBM. Regardless of the many new massages, it always badge 1, nothing else!!

This only happened after upgrading to 7.

I have iPhone 5

I appreciate if someone can post something here to resolve it.

Hi!

I own an Iphone 4s with IOS 6.1.2 and whatsapp version 2.11.4 and i have the same issue, the whatsapp badge counter stucks at 1 so the problem is not in IOS at least with whatsapp!!.

Quite surprised no one has found a solution for this yet. Common people, we need help here. I am sure there are several more people who are haivng the same issue (I have a friend with this exact issue). There must be a solution to this. HELP NEEDED.

Recently i wrote an email to Whatsapp and this was their answer:

"Thanks for your message.

We are aware of the issue, and hope to have it fixed in a future version of WhatsApp. Unfortunately we cannot comment on any future timelines. Thanks for your patience.

WhatsApp Support Team"

I FOUND THIS ON ANOTHER FORUM AND IT GOT RID OF THE ANNOYING BLOOP!

Hold down the lock button until it has the "slide to power off" icon, then hold down the home button until all the apps quit and restart and it got rid of my bloop of 7 messages!

TRY IT. SEE IF IT WORKS.

Hi Dana - I think what you are suggesting to do it to press and hold both home and sleep/wake button for at least 10 seconds to reset the phone. A lot of people have already tried it (including myself) without any success. I updraded to a new version of WhatsApp (2.11.7) and to iPhone 5S. Do not have this issue anymore.
