I too am getting the "Moving calendars to server account" pane when I open iCal

I too am getting the "Moving calendars to server account" pane when I open iCal. All fixes I have read seem to involve turning iCal off an on and/or rebooting. I cannot touch iCal. All is grayed out in iCal and in iCloud system preferences. I am using 10.8.5 and iCal version ... Well, that is grayed out too. Waiting a really long time does not seem to help.

MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

I have exactly the same problem - my calendar on the Mac is frozen with message "moving calendars to server account" i also have to force quit and rebooting makes no odds. When I go into iClound I can see that it is "setting up calendars and reminders" and also is in a loop.

this is mightily frustrating - surely Apple must no how to sort it without paying £35.00 to support!!!!!!

Hey all, I had the same problem. Everyone seemed to have different solutions that worked for them--but not for me 😟. Here's what actually fixed my problem.

1. Force quit iCal and Reminders.

2. On your computer, unlink Calendars and Reminders from iCloud:

> System Preferences > iCloud > Uncheck Calendars AND Reminders

(I did this because my Reminders uses my Calenders; I set deadlines for reminders, etc. Also, because my reminders weren't syncing with my iCloud as they should.)

3. It'll ask if you want to delete the calendar and reminder events from your computer. Say yes because you should already have the most up-to-date copy on your iCloud.

4. Open iCal. It should no longer display the "moving calendars to server account" message.

5. Add your iCloud account to iCal.

> Calendar > Add Account... > iCloud > Sign in with Apple ID and PW

6. Give it a minute to update. You should see all your iCloud calendar events with no error message.

7. Quit iCal. Open Reminders.

8. Add your iCloud account to Reminders.

> Reminders > Add Account... > iCloud > Sign in with Apple ID and PW

9. Test the two programs by adding test events and reminders to see if they show up on your iPhone and your Macbook.

It worked for me! 🙂

Hope this helps you!

Currently running: OS X Mavericks

Some of the fixes suggested above did not work for me.

I (or I should say our IT guy) was able to solve the problem by logging out of iCloud. Poorly worded messages will show up asking if you really want to do this and suggest you will lose your documents. Just say yes to all of these (you won't lose your documents). HOWEVER, if you want to continue using your Mac without iCloud, make sure you save your Calendar data BEFORE logging out, as this will be lost unless you go back to using iCloud.

When I logged back into iCloud the problem seemed to go away. I did seem to lose a few Calendar items, but most returned when I logged back in.

Hope this works.

I ended up at the Genius Bar at our local Apple store but here are some things that may have helped.

Follow what Maverick recommended. I think he has it correct.

I will say I also gave repeating calendar events end dates instead of "never" just in case that was causing a probelm. Did the same thing on my iphone. Did this help? Who knows.

Good luck, B
