I am trying to download a plug-in from Jostens Yearbook Avenue. I have been able to do this directly until I switched to the latest software?
Anyone know how to download without using the app store, that's the message, can't download, must go through the app store?

If you have already downloaded the plug-in and you are getting a message telling you that you can't open it because it is not from the Mac App Store or from identified developers, that's caused by Gatekeeper > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5290
To open the plug-in, right-click it (or press the Control key and click it) and choose Open. Another option is to go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General, and choose "Anywhere" under "Allow applications downloaded from"
If the company is displaying a message to go through the App Store then you will need to go through he App Store.
Is there a reason you don't want to download the app from the App Store?
I'm not sure what you mean by a "plug-in," but the App Store doesn't distribute anything but standalone applications.
