Hi,
I've been trying to delete a video file in my Trash, but I keep getting told it is in use.
It isn't and there is no video player app open.
Usually if this happens, I have just restarted the computer and I can then empty the trash.
However, this file will not go away.
It is not locked.

Boot into safe mode (hold the shift key while booting - Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode - Support - Apple) and see if you can delete it then.
Post back if it still won;t go away.

Open Terminal. Enter the following bolded command. Triple click it, copy and paste it into your command line and hit enter. Enter it exactly as it is:
rm -rf ~/.Trash/*
Open the AppleScript Editor in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and run the following with the file selected:
tell application "Finder"
set file type of (selection as alias) to "1234" --this can be any four-character string except "bzy "
end tell

Thanks for the input guys but I saw the Safe Mode idea first and that worked.
