After removing duplicates using Duplicate Detective app, hard drive space remains the same.

I purchased Duplicate detective from the app store and deleted almost 80gb of dupes. I was very excited. The dupes went to trash. I secure emptied trash. My hard drive space is the same now as it was before i removed all 80 gb of dupes. I restarted my computer. What gives ? all those gigs gone and still i show the same usable space on my hard drive as before .

Anyone ?

You may notice a difference in available space statistics between Disk Utility, Finder, and Get Info inspectors. This is expected and can be safely ignored. The Finder displays the available space on the disk without accounting for the local snapshots, because local snapshots will surrender their disk space if needed.
