Q: Ipad turns on and off in a loop during charging, and won't turn on at all off charge?

My Ipad has been in a constant loop of turning on and off on charge for the past few hours, I really don't know what to do. I've had a few charging problems before (taking forever to charge, the computer not recognising it, saying "Not charging" for numerous wall chargers and generally messing up.) But today it won't turn on at all. I've got through at least ten chargers over the months, and I've had this Ipad since Christmas, so not even a year.

Basically, when it's charging (I've tried wall and desktop computer.) it shows the Apple logo, then boots up, shows the lock screen for a second, then dies, then repeats this process over and over until I take it out, then it does the "No battery" sign.

I updated to IOS7 a while ago too, about a week after IOS7 came out. Please help?

Thanks,

Georgia.

I am trying the suggestion from WildChild7778.  There is not mention if the low battery indicator is displayed.  I've gotten the plug into itunes a couple of times.  Still trying.

I tried for over and hour but it did not help.  Ipad screen goes from Apple icon to battery life icon.  I press and hold the sleep and home button over and over and over and just doesn't help.  I've tried several different chargers.

I actually created an account for this forum today because I was so happy with wildchild7778's response. It worked for me!  However, I also wanted to add that I had to repeat step 3 about 100 times before it finally kicked in. I think my battery was just so low because it had been stuck in the loop overnight.  I tried it after 40 times, and I finally got to see my home screen for a fleeting second. However it quickly went to the battery icon. I didn't even have time to hold down the sleep button to get the red slider for a proper shutdown.  However, I knew I was on the right track after repeating step 3  40 times because that was the first time I got to see my home screen at all! I knew it was a good sign, and I just had to keep doing it to get more charge to the battery.  As I said, I bet I repeated step 3 100 times.

wildchild7778, I can't thank you enough. My family and I had just gotten back from a vacation to Alaska, and I had many of my treasured photos in my iPad. I was so sad to think that they might be lost for good. Your advice is so appreciated!

I had to modify the solution as home screen would never show up and restore mode didn't work.

Whenever I was trying to restore from iTunes (in few times I could put it into the restore mode) iPad would start another reboot loop and iTunes would loose iPad again, terminating restore.

    1. I unplugged iPad from computer.

    2. iTunes still could see it, so I unchecked wi-fi sync as well. (I'm not sure if this is necessary)

    3. I did steps 2 and 3 as WildChild7778 did, that is to say I held down home button and reset/ sleep button at the same time, immediately after each time Apple logo showed up.

    4. After 6-7 times iPad stopped the continuous boot up loop and the apple logo got stuck up on the screen forever.

    5. This allowed me to do a restore from iTunes. I plugged it to computer again and started restore, this time it went uninterupted.

    6. I backed up from an old backup.

This made me loose data I had since the last backup, but I got my iPad back...

(I got into this situation when I was trying to do too many updates at the same time. Do them one at a time.)

Try plugging it into an outlet with more power, for example a newer outlet.

Hi. Tried your method and it works. But the Ipad seems not to charge anymore beyond 23%. All this happened after upgrading to OS8 ... Am I the only one?

It worked for me by waiting 10 seconds each time when the apple logo has LIT UP and press the sleep and home button at this point (not when the apple logo first appears and the screen is darker). I did this about 10 times and then it got to 4% and it let me move the slider to switch it off. At 3% I couldn't use the slider. Hope this helps anyone else stuck.

I've also made an account just to say thank you to wildchild

For anyone who has this problem do follow through with WildChild's solution

at first i didn't think it was going to work for me so i was looking for other solutions but at the same time carrying on with WildChild's solution while i was looking, at first the apple logo would come on every say 2/3 minutes.. i noticed it started appearing quicker, like every 10 seconds, then it logo appeard before i even had time to go to the otherside of the room so i left it to see if would comeo n and it did.. it was at 1% and i was able to swipe the screen and turn it off.. so now i will let it charge for awhile and remember not to let it go so low again..

    Thanks

The sole reason I created this account was to just say thank you WildChild7778. After a day and a half of despair thinking that I would have to say goodbye to my iPad and all the important data on it I found your answer and it actually worked. Also lesson learnt never let the battery go so low again. So to anybody thinking that it's all over try WildChild's method before giving up hope.

I'm not sure why there are so many steps to the original solution. The solution I have for my iPad is simple. My problem seemed to be caused by using my laptop to charge. So when the loop occurs:

    1) unplug it from your laptop

    2) wait and let it power down, the looping should stop at some point when the battery is drained (You can try an power it on and it should tell you to plug it in)

    3) plug your charger into a WALL SOCKET.

The iPad should power up normally and start charging.

I have tried everyone's solution here, no effect. There is one detail: My iPad will only power on when it is plugged in, and THEN it goes into loop mode as soon as it gets plugged in.
