Q: Ipad turns on and off in a loop during charging, and won't turn on at all off charge?

My Ipad has been in a constant loop of turning on and off on charge for the past few hours, I really don't know what to do. I've had a few charging problems before (taking forever to charge, the computer not recognising it, saying "Not charging" for numerous wall chargers and generally messing up.) But today it won't turn on at all. I've got through at least ten chargers over the months, and I've had this Ipad since Christmas, so not even a year.

Basically, when it's charging (I've tried wall and desktop computer.) it shows the Apple logo, then boots up, shows the lock screen for a second, then dies, then repeats this process over and over until I take it out, then it does the "No battery" sign.

I updated to IOS7 a while ago too, about a week after IOS7 came out. Please help?

Thanks,

Georgia.

I've done exactly what you have said but my iPad doesn't stay on long enough to turn it off? I've done all the steps and then when my lock screen comes on it just goes of straight away, was wondering if you could help me please?

I ran into the same problem as you last night. It was on a loop all night so I thought I'd better do it 110 times but it still didn't work. when the home screen comes on the battery is still on 1%

My daughter is autistic the ipad stuck in the boot loop of dooms was hers and I can not tell you how beyond grateful I am to you for being able to find this. I am also surprised by Apple. I love Apple, they make great products but so many people have had problems with this and their own battery life encourages letting the battery completely discharge once a month . Yet they have not addressed this issue. I am disappointed in this. I own the latest ipad mini, three ipods , three iphones and and an ipad 4, add into thr mac book pro and desktop. I worry every device will go through this and with kids try telling them not to drin a battery! Either way i am beyind grateful to you and to anyone reading this , it does work but it takes ages ! Almost an hr doing this and finally I got it switched off and workign this morning To anyone going through the process this is how it worked for me , everytime the battery bar came up and then through to the apple logo i reset on the apple logo and then it at times got to the point where the apple logo would come up again as soon as reset , sometimes this makes you think it is ready ( and i think this is the mistake that makes it take so long ) so you think ok it has charge but it doesnt! Took me ages to realise that sometimes after the reset it went to the battery bar and other times back to the apple logo , but if i tried then I lost whatever charge i had worked for. For me i had to do this reset process for almost an hr and I have read others have needed to do it that long too. Get comfy , watch your shows ( whatever lol ) it goes faster and then you have an idea of how long you have been doing for . Resist tempation to " check " if there is battery eary because you start again and this is where frustration , mabe tears and curse words enter but you will get there.

Bit late but this genuinely works. So pleased. for anyone saying your iPad won't turn on without he charge in already.. that out the charger once the apple logo comes up.. It will continue to turn on.. then plug back it when the spinning symbol comes up.

I tried everything then this!!!! TRY THIS!!! Okay, so I solved this myself. I tried everything here and none of it worked for me. My iPad was doing the reboot loop and had only 1%. I did the quick resetting at the Apple icon 30,  40 and even more than 100 times in a row and nothing. It never even got to 2% this way. I tried to connect  to iTunes when I would get the iTunes symbol occasionally, nothing. I took it to the Genius Bar where they told me I needed a new one. They were wrong. I'm on it now it works great now!!  I didn't lose ANYTHiNG. iPad is just as it was Before.

    Here's what I did.

I Put the iPad in DFU mode. Here is a video which shows very well how to out it in and out of this mode. the video is showing an iPhone but it works the same for iPad. Please note that I did NOT plug it into the computer when I did it. It was plugged into a wall socket.  http://youtu.be/U_dbzL0EHWE  Ok, so when you see the Apple during reboot hold on/off button and home button together for EXACTlY 10 seconds, the Apple will turn off then release only the on/off button. Continue holding the home button. It will stay black now. This is a good thing. Finally, right? Now your iPad is in DFU mode. The first time I did this I was so jhappy and nervous. Happy because it stopped the annoying cycle finally. Nervous because I was afraid my iPad wouldn't start up or that I would lose everything. I figured it would charge up finally. Well not exactly. I was impatient and waited only an hour to turn it on. This is how you turn it on. Hold both the on/off button and home button until the Apple lights up again. Then release. It takes a little longer than usual but it will come on and you won't lose data. However after one hour of being plugged in this way it only charged to 2%. So It stayed on the home screen for only a fraction of a second more than it did before. Still not long enough to turn it off and put in charge Mode. So, I did it again and this time waited all night, about 12 hours. Then turned it on again using both buttons as I just described. And yay, it was up to 7%!!, I turned it off and charged that sucker up to 100% so, the thing about DFU mode is it charges EXTREMELY slow. But if you're patient it may work for you. Then you can charge it normally after you see your home screen for more that a millisecond! Good luck! Just wanted to share another solution in cask you weren't having any luck with these like me.

I tried this, then gave up and left my iPad unplugged for a few days. Then I tried recharging it last night at it charged normally. I'm guessing the battery was "mostly dead", not "all dead", and once it got to be all dead it forgot it was in a restart loop. Anyway I'm typing this from the offending iPad so it's working now.

OK. thanks Crazyfeet. i am gonna try this ....again. i left it for a week and plugged it in and the apple logo came on and the loop started all over again. I then tried wild child's 40-100times home/sleep button reset and got a low battery charge symbol....and then looping again. Left it on and its blank now and doesn't come on when i press the power button.
