Half of my trackpad is unresponsive?

A few days ago my trackpad started acting weird and sporadically opening and closing windows, as well complete loss of control of my mouse. As of right now the entire left side of my track pad is unresponsive and only the right side is functioning normally. Any suggestions?

A good first step is to reset the SMC (system management controller). To do this, power down your MacBook and ensure that the power adapter is plugged in. Press the 'shift' key, the 'control' key, the 'option' key and the power button simultaneously and hold all four buttons down for about ten seconds. You have successfully reset the system management controller. Power your MacBook on, and see if you still have the issue.

Tried it and no luck. Ive been using the right side for a past couple hours and it just completely died. It will sporadically zoom in and out of the page whenever i touch the track pad like its literally lost its marbles. I just closed my mac and opened it again and half of the trackpad started working again, but only half. The left side remains completely dead.
