I'm updating to iphone 5 and am having trouble creating icloud account so that i can sync photos and contacts. it kkeps telling me to go to seeting adn icloud and that is not there. so what now?
You need an iPhone 3GS running iOS 5 or higher to do that. The iPhone 3 cannot run iOS 5 so cannot use iCloud.
Instead of backing up to iCloud, back up to your computer using iTunes instead. To do this, connect you phone to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to ths Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now. Then go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
When setting up your new phone, when given the option choose Restore from iTunes Backup and restore the backup you made earlier.
