Stop iTunes from auto-delete my stuff!!

I just realized that almost all of my old saved podcast library was gone. In the new iTunes, without asking, iTunes is set to automticly delete old podcasts. I've never been so angry at Apple that I am right now. How can you release a software that automaticly delete things from the user without asking. It's horrible and only a thing Microsoft would do. For me, my podcasts are a library of knowledge that i like to keep. Not delete. And to set it to delete without asking me is beyond all sense and just plain stupid. How do I set iTunes to NEVER delete anything without manual permission? I don't want to change every subscription afterwards to "Not allow auto delete", I want that to be my standard setting.

iMac (27-inch Mid 2010), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
