Why can't I download a game/app larger than 100MB on my iPhone 5S??

I bought an iPhone 5S a week ago. It's 16 gb. SIM card is gsm. Every time I try to download a game or an app, it told me that the item is more than 100MB. And the download will continue if connected to wifi. Like that!! I have to download a game call "Order & Chaos Online" it's 1.6GB. I've download it once on my iPod. So can you explain me why? Because of GSM or something?? Help.

There never was a restriction on downloads from the App Store. Yes on software download but you always had the option to change it. I have always had an iPhone and never had issues until they came out with IOS 8.1.1. Now that I have iOS 8.1.2 I have this restriction. People get data plans for a reason. If cellular companies can't keep up with users they shouldn't offer the plans. As for Apple discrimination is a correct use as they discriminate to the working class who travel and don't have the time or luxury around wifi. Also wigo from ie: Starbucks, or bookstores is not secure. Hackers piggy back signals. I'm no expert but isn't that how many hackers have gotten personal information from people? If they put this restriction there should be a way to turn it off. I personally feel this goes against apples claim as user friendly. To go through the hassle of searching for wifi, or having to download to iTunes or just not purchasing I think most people would just not get it..at first. If I would have known there was a limit I would not have purchased my app. Now I have to wait 10hrs before I am close to my wifi, again defeating the purpose of apps and user friendliness and having a large data plan. Apple please have a shut off function on this as I understand the reason but restricting users only pushes followers to other products that don't ie samsung, HTC, android.

IIf there was restrictions how was I and many other users able to download updates to software and apps bigger than 25or 50 or even the new 100mb restriction? I have downloaded apps startibg on the 3gs. i even download the app called numbers which is way over 50mbs. Once this can be explained theN maybe I could believe a restriction in the past. The only downloads I mainly did over my wifi were for software updates, that's because I turned of the function to not allow data use for software downloads.

TThat statement is untrue. You could update IOS on your iphone over data before the 5. hundreds of people in camps update over there data plans to the iOS platforms. Now that camp jobs introduced internet to the rooms it's not done that often. I'm sorry but I have done it and seen many people update iOS via there data plan. I just chose to not do it due to my lack of data plan at the time.
