JVC Everio Camcorder

For some to me unknown reason I cannot get my movies, shot with my JVC Everio, transfered into iMovie. It does transfer (via USB) to the JVC software based program but not to iMovie.

Anyone has any idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks

PS: working with iMovie4

See here:
http://www.apple.com/ilife/imovie/features/formats.html
Where it says:
"Not only does iMovie HD 6 support a vast array of digital camcorders — from standard DV models to solid-state MPEG-4 video cams to state-of-the-art HDV camcorders — but it also supports a wide variety of video formats. That includes DV, DV Widescreen, iSight, MPEG-4 (Simple Profile), and HDV (720p & 1080i)."

No mention of hard drive recorders, right?

There MAY be a workaround if you can figure out which codec is used and IF you can transfer the video files to your hard drive.

OK, Here's how to import MPEG-2:

You should really sell the camera and get a miniDV. The hard MPEG-2 compression in your JVC will kill most of the quality of your footage. Converting to DV for editing and then converting to MPEG-2 again for DVD will also reduce quality.
