Camera Connection Kit USB Import Not Working - iPad 2

I can't get the USB connector on the camera connection kit to work. I've plugged it into my iphone 4s as well as my Nikon d7000 (both using their respectve USB cords) and nothing. I'm wondering if my connection kit is faulty? Or if it has something to do with the new iOS 7?

SD card import works fine....

I'd appreciate any help!
