"HP Printer Software Update 2.14" is stuck in the Mac App Store and no matter how many times I install it, it keeps returning every time I check for updates. The installs run successfully -- at least, the app downloads, it gives the appearance of installing, and the Update icon changes to Installed after. But, I check for updates later and it's still there.

Technically the HP update is coming through the Software Update facility, which now piggybacks onto the App Store app. Do you have clones or other versions of OS X that have not been updated with the HP update connected to your Mac?
@Dah*veed -- I thought it might be the clone issue, and updated my clone before attempting again and before posting the original question. No joy. The update remains stuck.
I have not cloned my Mac but I always get the HP update 2.14. I then installed the big HP update from Apple's update page but the App Store still shows version 2.14.
I have the same issue. Seems to be a bug from Apple?

Edited to Add: Looks like Apple may have just fixed it. No longer showing up as repeatedly needing to be installed.

As mentioned by @BobP1776 - fixed. Strings were pulled and Apple corrected the bug.
I see several posts here indicating this problem's been fixed. I disagree. I'm still getting the update notification and when I try to load it, no dice.
Can anyone tell me in simple English what to do about this HP printer problem ?
What's the latest on this (as of December, 2013) ?
Does one download a fix from Apple and/or HP or does one just throw the printer in
front of a big truck or give it to your brother-in-law who thinks he can fix anything (ha hal).
Please, tell me what I can do to fix this annoying problem.
If I cannot fix it, then I have heard good things about an Epson printer.
Looking forward to responses. The easier the better for me. Thanks
