This morning when I turned on my imac, I got a gray screen, the apple, the pinwheel turning and a status bar as if I were downloading or installing software.
After about 45 seconds the imac shut itself down. Anyone had this problem.
it sounds like your mac is booting to gray screen then trying to boot to safe mode before shutting off. many things can cause this.
what OS are you running on the mac? this will determine how to proceed in resolving this issue
Disconnect your keyboard. Make sure the "Shift" key is not suck. Your Mac is booting into safemode, nothing unusual.
Shutting off is unusual. And so is grey screen followed by booting into Safe Mode. Before booting up, make sure the keyboard is turned on--if it's a wireless KB.
Is this always happening? Can you deliberately boot into Safe Mode? If you can get back in either in Safe Mode or normally, open up Console in Utilities and see if there's a panic report. If you find one please post it in full.
