Q: What is the plop plop sound on the Mac Air?

Periodically I get a "plop plop" sound on my 2013 13" Macbook Air.  What is that sound?  I don't see any notifications or changes on the screen.

iPad 2, iOS 4.3.1

Could be Skype, when a contact logs on.

Yep. Most definitely the sound is not just particular to an Apple device. It is a Skype notification, when a contact of yours becomes available.

To eliminate the sound, do the following:

In the top left corner: click on Skype, preferences, notifications, details....

then in "event", choose “contact becomes available” then uncheck sound option. Done!

And for all the doubters; to the left of the check box there’s a little ear phone icon. If you click your mouse on that, it will reproduce the exact same "blip plop" sound. Good luck.
