Why doesn't my charger work anymore?

My MacBook Pro charger has stopped working, so I bought another one. Now that one doesn't work. I now think the second one was the wrong voltage (45). Do these chargers have a fuse I need to change?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Neither the AC input, nor the DC voltage is a problem. The power adapter have several internal protective mechanisms, including an internal resettable fuse. You haven't provided any details regarding the power adapter failure, so, here goes. You should disconnect the power adapter, both from the computer and the wall. Wait 15 seconds. Using the 3-prong AC cable, plug the power adapter into a properly-grounded AC outlet. Plug the Magsafe connector into the computer.

i found that the main problem with my charger was the the magnetic part that it gos in to the side of the mac was full of supper small peaces of metal. i all so found that that 2 out of the 5 small lumps that are on the end of the charger where it plugs in to the mac where black, and they where in a little more then the others, so i pressed them with a pen and found that they where spring loaded i then put a little spit on them to loosen things up alittle not realising that it was plugged in when doing so i pressed the bumps in with a pen and then small sparkes came out and then my charger witch some how made the small black dots come out again and worked again.

Why doesn't my charger work anymore?
