Screen comparisons

I probably shouldn't have but I thought I would compare my iPad 4 and new iMac (late 2013) screens. The ipad is definitely more white than the iMac. The iMac comes across as having a light gray look. Are they meant to be this different. Even comparing a photo on both look different in colours.

They are physically different screens and they will always look different in some respects.

Within the limits of what you can adjust yourself to make them look similar, you could adjust the brightness of each display. There are devices that can calibrate screens, and can certainly be used with an iMac. The Datacolor Spyder + SpyderGallery can calibrate iPad displays.
