How do I backup my iPod without the password?

I forgot my password for my iPod 5. I figured I would just back it up and restore it. But, apparently I need the password to back it up. Okay, fine. I'll just restore from another backup. So I entered my Backup password. It said it wasn't it. I know 100% that it's the right password. But it still won't work, it keeps saying it's wrong...What do i do?
