I have bought an Express card 34 mm with USB 3.0 as 2.0 is painfully slow for migrating stuff.
The Driver with the card is for windows. RENESAS-USB3-Host-Driver-30230-setup with another file called Setup.Iss
Renesas do have a website which I find to be not very helpfull.
Have I bought a white elephant or is there a way to get this devise to work?

I cannot say with 100% certainty but I suspect you have.
Since by inference your MBP has an express card slot, I use an eSATA card that I connect to external HDDs for transfers of large data files. The transfer rates are almost as fast as USB 3. You might consider that option.

I thought £7 GBP was too good to be true for a Express Card USB 3.0 Card. Many thanks for that 😟

Thank you for your advice. I will check out that option. It is a 2.5 inch sata drive I am working with via a usb 2.0 docking station (Soo so slow when moving 500+ gb data).
