Q: Please please please can you allow iphone users to re-install IOS 6?  Apple seems to be blocking any attempts.  Or can somebody help?  I have tried the ispw file downloading and checked it in Utilities etc but Apple is still blocking the restoration.

Why is Apple not allowing users of Iphones to download to the previous operating system of IOS 6?  I have tried downloading the correct ispw and checking the security of it on the Terminal board but I am still being blocked?  I really really cant stand the IOS 7 version.  I have tried turning off nearly everything to conserve the battery but nothing is helping.  Battery is running down within the hour after having it fully charged.

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.4

Downgrading was never supported since the first iPhone was released.

Yes but Apple is no longer allowing us to upgrade to ios6 either. We are being forced to upgrade to ios7 which I will not do since I loathe it more passionately than I do Windows 8.

Why can I not upgrade my phone on ios5 to ios6? Why force me to use an operating system I detest? I would rather switch platforms.

You can only updates to the latest that your model supports. You have missed the boat for IOS 6.

Yeah cheers. And where was the warning that that boat was about to set sail? I have an iPhone 4 which runs simply too slow with ios7 (besides being generally awful). So now my only option is to remain on ios4?

When did Apple stop giving a toss about it's users exactly? This would never have happened under Jobs.

This update procedure is the same since IOS was named iPhone OS in 2008 with Steve Jobs.

Every time when you sync your iPhone with iTunes, a dialog will popup (or you have disabled that nagging dialog box) to remind you that there's an update but you chose to ignore. Who fault is that?

Before we go on discussing, it is what it is.

BTW, After the IOS 4, there are

    5.0, 5.0.1, 5.1, 5.1.1,

6.0, 6.0.1, 6.1, 6.1.2, 6.1.3. updates. You have missed 9 boats on my count and now you complain!

There really isn't anything anyone here can do to assist you. You can offer Apple feedback here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/

It hasn't been an issue until now that app developers have clearly stopped supporting IOS4.

But it is clearly this contempt for users (ie: we complain???) which is going to push us away from Apple. IOS7 is a travesty which is precisely why you are attmempting to FORCE users on it so you can claim the uptake was a success. Not going to happen. See where this attitude gets you. Look what happened to Microsoft.

Why should developers support an OS version that is three major revisions old? Even more so when you consider that Apple no longer sells any devices with IOS 4, IOS 5 or IOS 6.

Technology moves on. Same thing happened with analog TV signals. You either move on or get left behind.

You tell them, put the fear of Khan in their blood. If you don't like it, change platforms. Your device is obviously old based on the OS you say you are running. Get an Android device, the Nexus 5 is a nice device. A couple of years from now you will have the same problem with Android. Developers will stop developing for older OSes. Then you can make the same arguments on the Android forums.

No, no one here can do that. This is a user-to-user forum. Apple rarely participates here. Submit your feedback directly to Apple using the appropriate link on the Feedback page:

True, but at least I won't be living out Cook's and Ive's pathological need to prove that they know better than Steve Jobs and Scott Forstall did.

Jobs may have been criticized for being a tyrant, but now we see the foolishness that his perfectionism was restraining. If I had idiots like the ones who designed this mess working for me, I'd be jumping down their throats on a regular basis too. Without his influence, the Jobs wannabes are now letting their freak flags fly and it ain't pretty.

Anyone who seriously thinks that iOS 7 looks great is either a "Millenial" who has been brainwashed to think that all change is automatically good (and look where else that has gotten us, but I digress) or a random townsperson straight from the story of the Emperor's New Clothes. I suppose another possibility is that they are Miley Cyrus's clothing designer, and thus have absolutely no taste.

Apple has now voluntarily thrown it's intricate and elegant designs away in favor of a poorly implemented Android clone (that is, if an Android device were thrown in a blender with cotton candy and a My Little Pony play set). Why should I continue to pay a huge premium for Apple when it now just looks like everything else? Might as well buy the real thing and pay less versus paying much more for a cheap, nauseatingly pastel clone.

So sure, yeah. I'll stick with my iPhone 4 running iOS4 until it finally dies, and then switch. The Andoid fan boys who govern their forums can't possibly be as condescending as the one's here.

Agreed. Over the past few months, I've noticed that the people with the most posts around here are, by far, the least helpful people on the forum. Apple has clearly lost their way without Jobs. The new OS is awful in every way. I've gone from a phone that worked perfectly for 18 months to a piece of crap that hasn't worked properly for one single day since iOS7 was released. Apple  won't fix it and they won't let us fix it by going back to iOS6. They aren't listening. They don't care. I will not own another iPhone after this mess.
