I have had about 2500 songs on my ipod touch fourth generation for a year and today i went on and there was only 40 of them on my ipod. I tried to re-sync and it shows that it needs to sync the songs and then when the sync is done they aren't there what do I do?

How much storage space is available ??
Tap Settings > General > About
Swipe down, you'll see Available.
20.8 GB lol I've checked things like storage and settings and everything and there doesnt appear to be any reason they shouldnt be downloading

Try a reset ...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.
