So I'm pretty sure that on my Macintosh HD partition, I should have significantly more than 200GB free, because I don't know what's up with this 'Backups' problem; I had my computer plugged into an external HDD the other day, moving some files, but I don't think that that's the problem. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

But what's bugging me is this picture here, and the fact that on the 'About This Mac' window the Backups is supposedly taking up 460GB when the partition is only 388GB large; my primary concern is just making everything look clean/what is really available

Yeah, I read it; it basically uses my ssd as a temporary external hdd for time machine, which explains why backups are listed as a significant part of storage on my computer. What I don't get is why does that translate into my computer telling me I have 566.36GB free when A) it's a 512GB drive, of which only ~390 GB are partitioned onto this drive? Just a glitch in the snapshop software?
What's wrong with my rMBP?
