Hooking up a Radio Shack keyboard (LK-1500) to GB

I've read some similar questions and answers, but none have gotten me going. Here's what I think I understand so far:

- plug a USB cable from the keyboard to the iMac (Intel CD)
- in GB, create a new track, real instrument

All of the settings I've read about don't seem to work - monitoring, and the like. No matter what I do, I can't hear or record anything from the keyboard into GB. Do I need to do anything in System Settings first so the Mac will recognize the keyboard?

Thanks for any help, and if anyone has any specific knowledge of the keyboard I'm speaking of, chime in too.

You misunderstood what you read, you do not create a "Real" track, you create a "Software" track.

Okay, so I create a software track - thanks for that correction.

So what next? Are there any settings I need to make to that track, so GB knows it's my keyboard? (I'm not at home right now to test it out.)

It should be automatic, it either works or it doesn't. When you plug the keyboard in and turn it on, a message should popUp saying "1 MIDI Device Detected", if not, then you may have compatibility issues to deal with. Make sure you have the latest driver for the keyboard if it requires one
