Final Cut Pro X - Mac Book Pro 10.8.5

Hi everyone,

It's my first time using this forum: If I am doing something wrong, please let me know and I appologize for it.
My question is about the Final Cut pro X which isn't runing smoothly and I am wondering why.

The MAC I use:

Mac book pro 2012

Processor: 2,5 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory: 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Grapich: Intel HD Graphic 4000 512MB
Software: OS X 10.8.5

Display: 13 Inch (1280 x 800)

Storage
129,96 GB Free out of 499, 25GB

According to the Final Cut pro X System Requirements I guess I have everything for it to works properly.

Final Cut pro X System Requirements:

  • Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor or better.
  • 2GB of RAM (4GB of RAM recommended).
  • OpenCL-capable graphics card or
Intel HD Graphics 3000 or later.
  • 256MB of VRAM (512MB of VRAM recommended).
  • Display with 1280-by-768 resolution or higher.
  • OS X v10.6.8 or OS X v10.7.5 or OS X v10.8.3 or later.
  • 2.4GB of disk space.

Am I wrong? Please, how can I fix this problem?

Before I edit the video I always do proxy (Apple ProRess 422 HQ) and then I edit It. The problem comes out even when I put only one video (of 2mins) in the time line and It happens only when I do the color correction (If I use the magic bulets looks for example, the final cut will crush) or If I use only the final cut color correction process like sharpen, color balance, 3-way-color correction it will get crushed as well.

I really don't understand nothing about computer system, so I hope that what I wrote here is enought to let you understand what's going on.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Since you're experiencing crashes, start by trashing your preferences.

Other thoughts:

Your model MBP is not ideal for FCPX because of its integrated graphics card but it should still be fnctional for most kinds of work. (Models with discrete GPU's perform better.)

The recommenced setup for best FCPX performance is tp keep projects and events on a drive that is different from your boot drive, That drive should be fast and connected by Firewire 800, Thunderbolt, or USB3.

Pro Res HQ files are quite large and your system may be struggling to deal with them. In contrast, Pro Res Proxy files are much smaller and easier on FCP and your system. Try working with Pro Res Proxy; remember to change back to Original or Optimized Media in Preferences before you export.

Alternatively, try working in Pro Res 422 and setting Playback to Better Performance.

Good luck.
