My screen is displaying colored lines...

I was using my Macbook Air and something happened where all of a sudden, colored lines were displayed on the screen...? They are both vertical and horizontal, and are very bothersome and I am wondering if this could lead to worse for my laptop. Does anybody know how I could possibly get rid of them? If so, thank you!!

P.S. I tried holding down Command+Option+R+P before the gray screen showed up when turning my laptop back on, but no luck.

The indication is that your monitor is at fault or the GPU on the logic board is bad.

First perform SMC reset and recheck,

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
  3. On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
  4. Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
  5. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

After SMC reset, if same, contact Apple for service call for part replacement.
