iPod 30 gb will not charge

I have old 30gb iPod. Has not been used for years. It will not charge when plugged into a wall charger. Is it a paperweight now or can it somehow be charged or battery be replaced?

Lithium-based batteries cab become unable to hold a charge, if left in a completely discharged state for an extended period.

The battery can be replaced. However, having an Apple Store or repair shop do the work may not be economical. If you want to do it yourself and are good at such things, this web site has repair guides

The part can be found on eBay and other online sources.
