Macbook Air Memory

Hi,

I am wondering if the Macbook Air's memory capacity is sufficient for me.

I don't intend to do a ton of heavy lifting on it. But I do work with large photoshop files. And I'd like to store my itunes library on it - about 20GB.

Cheers!

As per itunes, it wont matter one bit.

Even in large Photoshop files, my older Air I sold off running 2gig of RAM would handle 21MP photos just fine without any 'pains' in general editing.

Much less the 4gig base model minimum of the current Air.

However if you plan on buying a new air, for the very little cost, get the 8gig upgrade at time of purchase....well worth it and cant be added later. 😊

Well, memory and storage are two different things. New MBAs can have 4 or 8 GBs of memory depending on which configuration your purchase. I'd go with 8 GBs.

Storage, on the other hand, refers to the disk device which is the SSD. It comes in 128 or 256 GBs. I would go with the latter.

Your iTunes library will grow over time. It can easily double to 40 GBs. Add to that the OS and its files and you have another 35 GBs. Need to leave about 20 GBs as free space plus 10 GBs for other OS needs. That's around 105 GBs of the SSD. Doesn't leave much of 128 GBs, as you can see.
