My understanding it that you need to upgrade to iOS8 (Version 8.1) to enable the feature which you will find in "messages" under settings. Select "Text Message Forwarding" and then select your hardware Mac or Tablet. A authentication number should appear to activate this new feature. My tech issue is that I'm not seeing an authentication number and I'm currently using an iPhone 5. I'm wondering if the iPhone 5 is even compatible..

this is a late reply but I just wanted to say in case there any iPhone 5 users out there like me who in late 2015 still have this problem that the user above-named III did successfully answer this question and the forwarding is very possible with the above easy solution FYI

Well it kind of works, but it does not forward the number of the sender of the original text - which is actually what you need when reporting SPAM texts with 7726 in the UK
