Actually, there ARE several 'compatible' ways to transfer the photos.

1. The least desirable/most expensive way (expensive, because you will 'spend' airtime minutes to send the files) is to email the photos from your phone to an email account you can access on your MacBook.

2. I don't have an LG 840G, but my older LG 420G Tracfone flip-phone works just fine for transferring photos, ringtones, and other files to and from my MacBook via Bluetooth. I know that Tracfone did not implement Bluetooth file transfer capabilities in all their phones (my son's Motorola W276G cannot, for example) but I have found other discussions in non-Apple forums that indicate LG 840G Bluetooth pairing and file transfer to Mac IS possible.

First, turn on Bluetooth on your LG phone via Menu, Bluetooth, Power On.

Pairing is detailed here: http://tracfone.deviceanywhere.com/tracfone/tutorial.seam?tutorialId=26642&local e=en_US&deviceId=996&cid=4156967&conversationPropagation=end

Next turn on and pair your MacBook to your phone via , System Preferences, Internet & Wireless, Bluetooth. Once paired, you 'send' the photos from the LG and 'receive' them on the MacBook.

3. You can save the photos on a compatible microSD card on the phone and use a compatible USB card reader attached to your MacBook.

Finally, file transfer via a USB cable to micro-B (the generic name for the "LG" connector) is possible in Windows, but there is no Mac software to do so, and apparently Finder does not recognize the phone when connected this way as 'mass storage' so that method is the only one I would call 'incompatible'.

Maybe you question/problem is the ipad compatibility. I don't know about that, but I have an LG840G, and have transferred photos easily to my MacMini. Currently I've the ElCapitan (10.11.3), but I think I had the same experience with this same phone and my old MacMini (c. 2008 ---don't recall the OS system .... Leopard?).

So, with my Mini, I use a cable having a USB plug on one end, and the other end is the small plug that fits into the recharge plug in slot on the phone.

Once attached to the phone, I plug the USB into my computer, and the phone screen asks "download to mass storage?".

I select "yes", and pinwheel on the screen shows the link being established. Then on my computer desktop, an icon for my LG phone appears.

I click on that icon, and there appears a menu of files, including one for photos.

Then there appears another menu. A handful of thumbnails appear for a small library of "camera photos". Then there is a blank file titled "photos".

Upon clicking on that file, ALL my photos appear with their thumbnails. I have a few hundred pics, but finding the one I'm looking for can be difficult.

I don't get how they are arranged, but the first ones shown are all the pics with just numbers for each file. After scrolling down past all the numbered files, I find a list of photos which I have given names two through the options available in my phones editing functions.

To photos of choice (I haven't found a way to export ALL of them), I click once on the pic want to t/f to my computer. The thumbnail will turn blue, and I move my cursor to the "file" menu and select the "export" option. A small screen drops down for me to change the file name if I choose, and designate the destination. I usually just select "desktop" and re-assign its location later. My mac Preview viewing of the image allows some editing of the photo before I even export it to my computer, but these changes cannot be applied to the camera's file, but will only be saved if I then export to my computer.

Once finished, I usually close the phone files, and just select/highlight the camera icon. I go to the Files menu and select "Eject 'LG PHONE' ". My phone screen has been showing an "exit" option all during this hook up, but I don't usually select "exit" until after I've click on "Eject LG PHONE" on my computer.

I am currently visiting this Forum, because I'm looking for answers to one problem I have with this whole procedure.

I don't know if it is related to this computer-to-phone connection, but I have found on my phone (when not connected to my computer) some photo files that will not open, and when clicked on, result in a notice that says the file is Unrecognizable or Unreadable. These photos don't even appear on my Mac when phone and camera are linked. I don't know how these files were corrupted, but these "unreadable" pics CANNOT even be DELETED from my phone.

Please feel free to let me know if my post is of help OR NOT (though I don't what to waste even more of your time)... I may learn more from YOUR feedback than you have from MY post :-)
