How to locally sync an iPhone with OS X Mavericks? iCloud is NOT an option.

I read that OS X Mavericks will no longer allow me to use iTunes to sync my iPhone to a local system but makes iCloud mandatory? Is that correct?

iCloud is not a valid option for me since I have no control about my data there, I need to keep all my data (contacts, calendar...) on a system under my control and so far iTunes allowed me to do that which was one of the reasons I didn't even consider Android or Windows Phone.

OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

I think someone who forces customers to give personal data in the cloud need professional help and not me!

your post "Apple doesn't participate here. The solution has been given multiple times." hey great: tehre is the solution... give us your data in icloud or smash your 500 US$ iphone in the trash and take another phone.

this is not a solution this is blackmail!

inacceptable!

apple can make the icloud junk with those customers who want to do this. i dont want ist and there is no reason for deleting a software option like the local sync but business reasons to hostage customers.

beside this the usa law allows data gathering like a dictatorship. we had this in germany once. thank you, i dont want that.

the facts is simple:

if you are using MacOS 10.9 and itunes 11.1.3 which are the latest, then you CANNOT sync your iphone (in my case an iphone 5 with lateste iOS version) anymore.

Every other information is wrong and misleading.

there are persons in every discussion forum that obviously try to calm down this complaint by giving wrong informations and trying to defend this stupid apple business task.

in this form it is KiltedTim in another forum

it is Ikrupp.

Apple should accept that this measure was wrong and restore the previous function or accept that professional users with a certain demand on security do not use iphones anymore.

i think there will remain enough teenagers with raging hormones that still keep to iphone. The question is whether tim cook wants only those...

I think Apple wants only these simple minded teenagers because they can be programmed to be the perfect consumers: They have next to no technical knowledge, they don't question what Apple does and they are willing to spend money for "good design"...

I found out only recently, by accident, the same i.e. unable to sync my iPhone and iPad with iTunes. Thought something was wrong with the devices.

The found out in the forums, it was designed into Mavericks.

Many of us have our valid reasons why we do not want to store data in iCloud.

I feel very let down, maybe betrayed is a bit strong, that Apple is forcing us to use a feature that we are uncomfortable with or not keen to use.

It wa not announced prior to Mavericks' release.

I hope Tim Cook is listening and do the right and honorable thing viz to allow those of us who do not want iCloud to sync our Contacts, Calenders, Notes etc to do so with our local computers.

I'm sure it can be done. Only thing is whether Apple wants to make the change.

Very, very disappointed and let down !

Hey, Tim Cook, are you listening or don't you care !

And, please everyone, do not get distracted or side tracked in this discussion and please stay civil.

Thank you.
