Nov 28, 2013 8:41 AM in response to KiltedTimby marcus_z,(i hope i did not violate any TOS, and i was steering away from that subject.
also i do not know their policy descisions.)

Nov 28, 2013 8:44 AM in response to KiltedTimby ladhsfopwen,Most people don't have time to read all these TOS's and it since there's always a line in them saying that "these TOS's can be changed at any moment without notice" I don't really see the point why you should...

Nov 28, 2013 8:49 AM in response to ladhsfopwenby Csound1,Because you agreed to them, how can you agree when you don't know what they are?
This is not a complex issue, obey the rules or don't post.

Nov 28, 2013 8:57 AM in response to Csound1by ladhsfopwen,Well since they can be changed at any time without notice it is impossible to obey them, that's why.

"Officer, I didn't know it was illegal to make a right turn on red in this state so you can't ticket me!"

Nov 28, 2013 9:07 AM in response to Gerrit7by WH,Ähem KiltedTim and CSoumd and some others, why are YOU here?
You are talking so much about TOS...Doing the police here, is against the TOS, too, I imagine.
The people here already know, that there is no option for a lost service.
Say, not an acceptable option for the most of us.
The people here are Apple customers, are paying for the devices, and are really afraid of the IT future in general and about Apples moves.
By the way:
It is not "your" nor "my" private data.
It is data of your friends, of your family, of your customers, of your work etc.
Are you sure, that all of them are satisfied, that YOU provide THEIR data in cloud systems?

Nov 28, 2013 9:09 AM in response to IdrisSeabrightby ladhsfopwen,That's too simple, read my full reply, not just the points you like.
When the TOS, or any other set of rules for that matter, can be changed at any moment, without notice (prior of after) it is impossible to obey them. It's as simple as that.
(And can we now return to the subject please?)

Why I am here is none of your business. Who do you think you are?

Nov 28, 2013 9:14 AM in response to ladhsfopwenby Csound1,The subject is how to sync an iPhone without using iCloud.
The answer is that there is currently no method in Mavericks, which part of that is difficult for you to understand?

Nov 28, 2013 9:53 AM in response to Csound1by marcus_z,Well Csound and Co, you are not helpful or making this discussion forum a friendly place to discuss at.
You are helping the hit-count of this thread, which could draw apple’s attention to the subject.
and for that i thank you.

Nov 28, 2013 9:57 AM in response to Csound1by James Richards,It *is* possible to sync without using iCloud (or any other cloud based service). It is not possible to sync via USB. It is possible to sync either directly between machines, or on your own home network without accessing the internet at all and it can be done for free. In order to sync you need a CardDAV and a CalDAV server. These can be set up on your son desktop or laptop using Apache which is included with Mavericks and Baïkal server which is free and open source. It is do-able by someone who is not especially network savvy, nor particularly familiar with terminal. Barney-15E has given the instructions in a tutorial linked above, and I have recently posted a detailed account of my own successful attempt to get this set up. It hasn't solved all my problems, but it has answered the question in the OP - How to locally sync an iPhone with OS X Mavericks? iCloud is NOT an option. I still hope Apple will make local USB Sync possible again, but in the meantime I have the means to sync iPhone and Mavericks without charge and without the data leaving my own home. I hope this solution will be a practical workaround for many of those who have privacy/data protection issues with iCloud or other cloud-based solutions.

This is a tech support site, not a discussion site.

If you want to "draw apple's attention to the subject' why don't you use the correct method.
Post Here

read the url in top of your favorite browser."....why don't you use the correct method."

Nov 28, 2013 10:33 AM in response to Csound1by ladhsfopwen,Well we're in: "Apple Support Communities > Mac OS & System Software > OS X Mavericks > Discussions" at the moment. It ends with discussions, like marcus implied.
